Refund and Cancellation Policy
We sell classes, not subscriptions. Nothing renews automatically, nothing bills you without asking, and classes you have paid for remain yours to use — including after a long break.
This page sets out exactly what happens when you want to cancel a class, pause, or leave.
1 · How classes are bought
Classes are purchased in blocks — typically 8, 24 or 96 at a time — through the student portal. Larger blocks carry a lower per-class rate.
There is no subscription, no auto-renewal, and no charge you have not initiated yourself. When a balance runs low we send a reminder; topping up is your choice and your timing.
2 · Cancelling a class
With at least 24 hours’ notice, a class can be cancelled or rescheduled and nothing is deducted from your balance. Genuine emergencies are always considered, whatever the notice.
Without notice, or where the student does not attend, the class is treated as delivered and deducted. The teacher held the hour and prepared for it.
Cancellations initiated by us — a teacher’s absence, a change at our end, a technical failure — are never deducted, and are rescheduled at a time that suits you.
3 · Pausing
Families pause for board exams, for the summer, for a family trip, sometimes for a year abroad. This is normal and expected, and it costs you nothing.
- Give us a week’s notice, so your teacher’s slot can be released rather than held empty.
- A pause runs for a minimum of two weeks.
- Your balance is untouched, and the validity clock stops for the duration of the pause.
- Pauses may total up to twelve months across the life of a balance.
- Resume by sending a message. We will re-establish your slot as close to the original as your teacher’s schedule allows.
4 · How long classes remain valid
Classes don’t expire quickly, because families don’t learn at a uniform pace. Validity runs from the date of purchase and is generous relative to how long a block realistically takes to use:
| Block purchased | Valid for |
|---|---|
| 8 classes | 6 months |
| 24 classes | 12 months |
| 96 classes | 24 months |
Any period spent on an agreed pause is added on top — the clock stops while you are paused.
We will always write to you before a balance lapses, and if you have a reason to need longer, we will almost always extend it. This clause exists to close the books on families who have moved on, not to catch families who haven’t.
5 · Refunds
Any time within your first four classes, if you decide we are not the right school for your child, tell us and we will refund what you have paid, minus the classes taken. Those are charged at our standard 8-class rate, whatever size block you bought. No reason required.
After the first four classes, unused classes are not refunded as cash — but they are not lost either. They remain yours:
- They stay valid for the periods in section 4, extended by any pause.
- They can be applied to any module, so changing direction costs nothing.
- They can be transferred to a sibling enrolled with us.
- You can pause and return, up to twelve months in total.
This is how a music school or a sports academy treats a term’s fees, and for the same reason: teaching is planned in advance, slots are held, and the value stays with your family in the form you bought it.
Two exceptions, both about our obligation rather than your preference:
If we cannot continue teaching your child — no suitable teacher is available, we pause enrolment, or we withdraw — your entire unused balance is refunded in full, without deduction.
If something has genuinely gone wrong with the quality of teaching, tell the founder. These are considered individually and decided by him. We would rather resolve it properly than hide behind a policy.
Delivered classes are not refundable.
6 · How a refund is processed
Write to contact@sanketana.com. Where a refund is due, we initiate it immediately on approving the request. Your bank or card issuer then typically takes 7–15 working days to credit it, which is outside our control.
Any payment-gateway or currency-conversion charge levied by the processor — on the original payment or on the refund — is deducted from the amount returned. We add no fees of our own.
7 · If a teacher isn’t the right fit
Tell us. We re-match your child with another teacher, without drama and at no cost. The relationship between teacher and student is the whole model — it has to be right, and we would far rather change it than have you leave.
